Giving back to our community has always been an important part of The Kellogg Club’s mission. Through volunteer efforts, charitable initiatives, and member-led projects, our Club has a long tradition of supporting those in need.

We are pleased to continue that tradition by supporting a community service project led by Kellogg Club member, swimmer and high school student, Cole Szabo. As part of his service efforts, Cole is partnering with the Chester-Mendham Food Pantry to organize a Food & Clothing Drive.

The collection will run for two weeks, from Monday, August 3 through Monday, August 17, 2026.

The Chester-Mendham Food Pantry has shared that the following items are especially needed:

Food Items

• Gluten-free or low-cholesterol cereal (13–18 oz.)
• Gluten-free granola bars (6–12 count)
• Gluten-free cake/brownie mix (~15 oz.)
• Ground coffee (~10 oz.)
• Low-sugar or gluten-free cookies/Oreos
• Low-sodium crackers (~13 oz.)
• Low-sodium pasta sauce (~24 oz.)
• Gluten-free pasta (~16 oz.)
• Gluten-free pancake/Bisquick mix (~40 oz.)

Clothing & Household Items

• Women’s and men’s undershirts (new)
• Socks (new)
• Laundry detergent (~73 oz.)
• Dish soap (30 oz.)
• Adult diapers
• Name-brand deodorant (2.6 oz.)

Collection boxes will be available at:

• The front porch of the Clubhouse
• The Pool House

The Kellogg Club relies heavily on financial contributions as well as personal time commitments for various events throughout the year. In keeping with the spirit of giving back to the community, a portion of the Gala’s proceeds is donated to a local charity.  The Kellogg Club began this tradition in 2012. The Kellogg Club members are not only dedicated to the preservation of the club, but also to the larger community.

-Donation Drive for personal hygiene kits during Covid
-Pennies for Patients

*In 2020, fundraising efforts were thwarted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  However, that did not prevent the club from donating to a local charity.  The board approved a $2,500 donation to the Interfaith Food Pantry Network. On January 15, 2021, Scott Whitenack (2020 President), Scott Orr (2021 President), and Sandy Lipsman (2019-2021 Treasurer) traveled to Morris Plains and presented a check to Carolyn Lake, Executive Director of IFPN. We were certainly pleased to do so on behalf of The Kellogg Club, and IFPN was certainly pleased to receive the money! 

**Once again, the Kellogg Club fulfilled a long-standing tradition of giving back to our local community through a $2,500 donation to a local charity. The focus this year was on charities that provide food and housing resources, especially considering the pandemic and the increased need for support. Club President Scott Orr presented the check to Mitch Perry, Operations Manager, Michelle Bull, Development Associate and Shaneya Hackett, Director of Preschool and School Age Programs.
